Plant a Tree for Earth Day!
Apr 17, 2021

On Sunday, April 25, we will celebrate Earth day at The Dover Church by giving out tree saplings, blue spruce and sugar maple, along with a blessing. Come between 9 and 9:40 AM or again during the 11 AM outdoor service to pick up a sapling and a blessing (please let us know that you’re coming so that we have enough). Blue Spruces are some of the best carbon absorbing trees and sugar maples give us maple syrup and lovely foliage. Make this commitment to heal our air and plant a tree. My mother, a graduate of the Joyce Kilmer school in West Roxbury, always recited to following poem by Joyce Kilmer:

     (For Mrs. Henry Mills Alden)
     I think that I shall never see
     A poem lovely as a tree.

     A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
     Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

     A tree that looks at God all day,
     And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

     A tree that may in Summer wear
     A nest of robins in her hair;

     Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
     Who intimately lives with rain.

     Poems are made by fools like me,
     But only God can make a tree.

We hope you will join us for worship and will take home a seedling to plant in your yard. Help us nurture God's creation, making it cleaner and greener, by planting a tree.

If you are unable to join us in-person for worship, please stop by the church office during the week to pick up a seedling. Call the office if you are unable to come to the church and we will make arrangements to get a seedling to you.
