New Associate Minister | The Dover Church
News & Publications
On Sunday, June 14, at a Special Congregational Meeting, the members of The Dover Church called Kayla McKinsey to be their Associate Pastor. Kayla came to The Dover Church in early January as a part-time Pastoral Associate while completing her Masters of Divinity at Harvard University. With a wealth of experience in youth ministry as the Director of Summer Camp, Kayla will be leading our youth ministries as we seek to expand the participation of young people in our community who are looking for a welcoming, non-competitive, community that has fun and does good.
Kayla grew up in Easton, MA and went to Carleton College in Minnesota, where she was both a scholar and an athlete (a sprinter on the track team). Her warmth and sincerity are abundantly apparent. Perhaps her greatest test was taking the original part time position, only to have the church close almost immediately due to the pandemic. Taking it all in stride, Kayla transitioned to on-line ministry where she has nurtured 8th grade confirmands and prayer groups of adults. The church’s hope is to find her housing so she can live in town starting in September. She is pictured here, following the zoom meeting vote (another first for The Dover Church), inside our meetinghouse with her fiancé Walter.
