High School Youth Group | The Dover Church

HSYG service trip

High School Youth Group

We recognize the great gifts, as well as needs, that the youth of Dover and surrounding towns bring into our midst and we welcome them—regardless of whether their families are active in our church.

Our High School youth group provides safe space, trust, community, challenge, and guidance for young people as they share, play, reflect, serve and grow. We strive to be wide in our welcome, generous in our support and love, serious in our inclusion, and open-minded in our service toward others!

What we do:

Given COVID-19, our High School youth group meetings have shifted to make space for social distancing precautions. Throughout September and October, we’ll be meeting up outside of the church on Sunday evenings, 7-8:30pm for socially distanced fire circles and service opportunities. Even with these changes, there are some constants: the HSYG is still as committed as ever to being a place where young people from all backgrounds can feel welcomed and known, build relationships with one another, serve their neighbors, and explore questions of meaning and faith.

Fire Circles:

We will gather right outside of the church in the Taylor Garden for socially distant fire circles and activities on Sunday nights! We’ll provide individually packaged snacks and have some activities up our sleeves, that will change each week, for fun and for reflection. We encourage you to bring masks, lawn chairs/blankets, comfy and weather appropriate clothing, and your friends! We’ll settle folks into spaced out zones with the group they arrive in, and ask people to wear masks except while in their zones. We even have a pool noodle to ensure we’re really far enough apart! Check the schedule below to know exactly what we’re up to, but in general, you can expect snacks, trivia and jeopardy nights, a Halloween party, and the chance to dig a little deeper about what matters to you and why, all in a laid back and welcoming environment!

Service:

We will be partnering with Pearl Street Cupboard & Cafe, a food pantry and hot meals program in Framingham, MA. The Dover Church will be collecting donations of toiletry and hygiene products (see list below for items to donate) throughout September and October. Then, in late October, our SHYG will gather at church to assemble care bags that Pearl Street Cupboard and Cafe can distribute to their clients. Now more than ever many of our neighbors are in need of assistance making ends meet, and this is a safe and impactful way that The Dover Church Senior High Youth Group can be part of that ministry!

Newsletter:

We send out a weekly High School Youth Group (HSYG) e-News.  If you would like to be added to our list, please contact Kayla.

Daring to name the pain weighing down or the song exulting your heart can make all the difference. To pray your prayers for you is an answer to our prayers. "God bless you and keep you. God make his face to shine upon you and give you peace." Amen.
