Job Posting - Church Sexton
Aug 14, 2020

A message from the House and Grounds Committee:

After 21 years of faithful service to The Dover Church our Sexton, Andy Tucker, has decided to retire at the end of August. Andy has been a mainstay for the smooth operation of the church for a very long time. Not only does he perform his normal duties with care and skill, he also is adept at identifying and solving issues that arise during his work time at the church. Often things that need attention from the house and grounds committee get Andy’s attention before we can address them. What a joy for us!

We plan to honor Andy’s long and distinguished service to the church with a small, socially distant, outdoor gathering in the near future. We will have a ceremony with the whole congregation at a later date, when conditions surrounding the pandemic change enough to allow for it.

With Andy’s impending retirement, we must begin to look for his replacement. We hope to find someone to be our Sexton who is familiar with the church and has a background and skills that fit the job responsibilities. Some of our Sexton’s responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning the building
  • Inspecting emergency and safety equipment
  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Removing trash
  • Perform minor repairs
  • Assist with special events such as weddings, funerals and other gatherings
  • Order supplies and report to the Senior Minister and to the House and Grounds Committee

If you know of anyone who may be interested in this position, please let Max know.
