Christian Education
|
|
Our Sunday School seeks to introduce children at The Dover Church to some of the basics of the Christian faith: prayers, Bible stories, service to the world, God’s presence in their lives, and the importance of Jesus.

We also want our children to know church as a safe and welcoming place, where they are an important part of the church’s life and where adults care about them.
Church School is open to all children, whether their parents are church members or not

The Christian Education Program for our children is overseen by the Christian Education Committee. The classroom teaching and activities are in the hands of creative and committed adults. Children attend the first part of regular Sunday worship, at which time they are offered “A Thought for Young Minds” by the Ministers or a church member. Children proceed from the church sanctuary to their classrooms where they enjoy their biblical lessons, as well as music instruction led by the Children's Music Director. In addition to their biblical and musical lessons, it is the church’s intention that its children learn that they can make a difference in others’ lives by being involved with organizations such as Heifer International or The Children's Christian Fund. We believe that faith is best learned at home, and we try to provide support and resources for every family with a child enrolled in the program.
The Church School Program runs from early September through mid-June, and meets during church services, which run from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. The program is offered to children in Pre-K through 7th grade, with different learning opportunities offered to 8th graders throughout the church calendar year. Additionally, child care is provided for infants and toddlers who have not yet entered pre-school.
We’re proud of our children, grateful for their presence among us, and hopeful that they will come to know of the presence of God’s love in their lives.
